Shwetal Dighe
Mr Shwetal Dighe works as a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Thyroid Surgeon at the Darent Valley Hospital Dartford and Queen Mary Hospital in Sidcup.
He is currently the clinical lead for Laparoscopic UGI surgery and Pancreatitis.
Professional Statement
My goal is to ensure that each patient has a complete understanding of their diagnosis and are confident while making an informed decision, should it be surgery. It is my endeavor to provide patients a minimally invasive alternative to traditional open surgeries which allow them to quickly return to their daily routine with minimum scarring, less pain and fewer complications.
Meet
Shwetal Dighe
He was appointed at the hospital as an Upper GI surgeon in 2015 and was responsible for introducing a new service in the hospital offering complex gallbladder surgery including laparoscopic bile duct exploration, anti-reflux surgery for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and complex hiatal hernia repair.
He pursues his research interests as an Audit Lead in the Surgical Department and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at National and International meetings. He is passionate about teaching and is the Lead of Surgical simulation designing and conducting various courses.
